Creative Schools
Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa is delighted to be a part of the Creative Schools Initiative.
‘Scoileanna Ildánacha/Creative Schools initiative supports schools/centres to put the arts and creativity at the heart of children’s and young people’s lives. This initiative provides opportunities for children and young people to build their artistic and creative skills; to communicate, collaborate, stimulate their imaginations, be inventive, and to harness their curiosity. It will empower children and young people to develop, implement and evaluate arts and creative activity throughout their schools/centres and stimulate additional ways of working that reinforce the impact of creativity on children and young people’s learning, development and well-being.’

Creative Committee
The first thing our school had to do was form a Creative Schools Committee.
Each child had a vote and elected a representative from their class. The committee is as follows:
Junior Infants: Annabelle Hennessy & Dougie Atkinson
Senior Infants: Jade McCoy & Saoirse Quinn
First Class: Katie Driver & Jamie McCoy Ward Ryan
Second Class: Rory O’Connor
Third Class: Éanna Reilly
Fourth Class: Laura Cullen
Fifth Class: Ciara Finn
Sixth Class: Connor Malone
Múinteoir Siobhán Mulhall, Múinteoir Hayley and Múinteoir Siobhán Parsons
First Steps
The first step now for our newly formed committee was to decide what our creative project was going to be.
Along with our Creative Associate, Clair Farley, the children explored what creativity is and what ways they are already being creative.
Next each child had the opportunity to say what creative things they would like to see more of in our school.
There were so many ideas but the top 3 were
Construction, building and Lego
Outdoor Activities and Farming
Music
We are delighted that the number one choice from this top 3 was
Outdoor Activities and Farming!
We are really excited about this and we are working hard to put a plan of action together.
